June E. Shearer

June E. Shearer, 88, of Mount Joy, entered the presence of the Lord on August 5 at home.

Born August 16, 1927 in Buffalo, New York, she was daughter of the late Elmer and Florence Bromley.  She and her husband of 67 years, John R. Shearer (Jack), were married on May 28, 1949.

June was a lifelong homemaker, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She was a talented seamstress, expert record-keeper, and enjoyed playing the piano.  Before marriage she had worked at a telephone company in Buffalo.  She will be lovingly remembered for her generosity, attention to detail, humility, and thoughtfulness.

A member of Mount Calvary Church, Elizabethtown, June had previously been an active member of Fellowship Bible Church in Burlington, MA where she served as Deaconess, Sunday school teacher, choir member, and a variety of other roles during her 42 years there.

Surviving in addition to her husband, Jack, are her two children, David M. Shearer, husband of Barbara (Moler), Roanoke, VA, and Gail A. Nelson, wife of Philip Nelson, Mount Joy.  She is also survived by five grandchildren, Daniel L. Shearer, Roanoke VA, Bonnie J. Elliott (Justin), Columbia, Brett A. Nelson, Temple PA, Wade A. Shearer, Roanoke, VA,  Brian P. Nelson (Jamee) of Fairborn OH, and five great-grandchildren.

At her request, there will be a private memorial time for immediate family only.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her honor to Hospice and Community Care 685 Good Drive Lancaster PA 17604.
