Carl E. Swinehart

Carl E. Swinehart, 74, of Lancaster, passed away Saturday, April 20,2024, at Lancaster General Hospital after a lengthy illness. At the time of his death, he was surrounded by family and friends. Born in Sadsbury Twp.,Lancaster Co., PA, he was the son of the late Charles and Marian (Todd) Swinehart.
Carl was retired from TAH Construction where he was employed for over 40 years. He was known as a jack of all trades, able to build or repair anything. He enjoyed watching the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies, gardening, going to public auctions, collecting scrap metal, visiting OCMD, and spending time with his family. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Wanda (Schnell), two daughters; Tanya (David) Benner, Sherri (Jim) Carpenter, four sisters; Gladys Esh, Joyce Herr, Janet Groff, Helen (Jere) Martin, one brother; Lester (Judy) Swinehart, and five grandsons; David and Karl Benner; Jimmy, Nathan, and Griffin Carpenter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Walter Swinehart, and two half-brothers; Charles Jr. (Ross) and Clarence Swinehart.
In accordance with Carl’s wishes, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Hospice & Community Care, 685 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17601.
