Vera A. Howse

It is with great sadness that the family of Mrs. Vera Anita Howse (nee Sellers) announces her passing on Easter Sunday, 9th April 2023, at the age of 89.

Vera passed away peacefully at Ephrata Manor Care Home in Ephrata, PA, and is lovingly remembered by her husband of 65 years, Robert Howse; her eldest son, Dr. Robert Howse (Tami) of Lititz, PA and their daughters Mrs. Kelsey Austin (Dan) of Buffalo, NY and Mrs. Alaina Gotwalt (John) also of Lititz, PA; her daughter Twyla Howse and her twin sons, Nathan and Daniel Gilmore of London, UK; and her second son, Aaron Howse (Diane) and their children Kyle and Julia of  Charlotte, NC.  Additionally, Vera is survived by two of her brothers, Victor Ira Sellers of Niceville, FL, and John Irwin Sellers (Faye) of Mobile, Al. 

Born in Jay, FL on 10th October 1933, Vera grew up in Mobile, AL. After marrying, her husband’s career moved them to Utah, San Francisco, Los Angeles, the Baltimore/Washington area (where they raised their family), Richmond, VA and St. Louis, MO before retiring to Lititz, PA. Vera was a respected Administrator and Researcher, working for various volunteer and business organizations. An incredibly creative woman, she was known for her sewing skills and cooking, as well as her love of history and the arts.  Vera graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Maryland, College Park, with a BS in General Studies in 1988 at the age of 55. She and her family were particularly proud of this accomplishment. 

Vera’s family will hold a private memorial service in remembrance of her life.
