Steven D. Burkett, Age 59, of Lancaster, passed away July 23rd, 2024, at Lancaster General Hospital.
He was born on November 20, 1964, in Ephrata, PA to Frederick T. Burkett, Sr., and Cecelia M. Weaver.
Previously an assistant manager at Peter Lumber Co. in Columbia and a sales associate at 84 Lumber in Lancaster, he was a self-taught, self-employed carpenter for most of his life. He was an avid gardener and an expert griller. He loved sharing these gifts with others, often by hosting gatherings so he could feed his closest friends and family his delicious home-grown vegetables and incredible grilled fare: perfectly cooked steaks, burgers and hot dogs, and barbecued chicken that was second to none.
Steve is survived by his mother, Cecelia, and his step-father Clyde Weaver; three daughters, Elizabeth, Megan, and Ashley; a brother, Frederick T. Burkett Jr., married to Robin; his former wife and long-time friend, Christina D. Burkett; three grandsons, Mason, Brady, and Parker; two granddaughters, Vivian and Melina; and his companion, Stacy Spence. He was preceded in death by his father, Frederick T. Burkett, Sr.; his sister, Angi B. Groff; and a grandson, Colton Burkett.
A celebration of life is planned, to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to White Deer Run or MHMR, Lancaster, PA.
