Sharon Christensen

July 7, 1950 — January 18, 2025

Sharon Lee Christensen, age 74, a resident of Millersville in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania for the last 5 years of her life and much of her youth, died Saturday, January 18, 2025. She struggled courageously against cancer the last two years of her life.

She is survived by her sisters, Melinda Habecker of Mount Horeb WI and Nancy McDow of Albuquerque NM and three nephews and a niece. She is preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Christensen and her parents, Kenneth H. Habecker and Ruth (Meck) Habecker.

Sharon graduated from Hempfield High School where she excelled in athletic ability especially in track and field and field hockey. She attended West Chester College, Millersville University and Franklin and Marshall College. She traveled through Europe soon after college and settled in Pisa, Italy for a period of time before returning to the United States to work in various careers including the fashion and food service industries before settling into banking for Citi Bank.

Sharon and her husband were married 43 years. They lived in many parts of the country including Texas, Louisiana, Nevada, California, Oregon and New Mexico. Sharon was a quick learner, had a facility learning languages and loved word games. She also had a deep love for animals, especially dogs and horses. 

She always had a dog and she and her husband trained horses and she loved to ride. Sharon was also an extraordinary cook and was known for sharing many happy events and meals with others. Oh my, her wonderful crab cakes! She was a wonderful caring and loving wife, sister, daughter and friend. She had a generous insightful spirit and brought joy to all who knew her. She is dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Her spirit soars.

A graveside service will be held sometime in the spring of 2025 and interment will follow at the Rohrerstown Mennonite Cemetery. A celebration of her life will follow.
