Robert G. Wolff, 82, passed away on August 29, 2018 at Conestoga View Nursing Home. Bob was a native Pittsburgher who moved to Lancaster 5 years ago with his beloved wife of 62 years, Virginia (Ginger) Wolff. Having visited Lancaster countless times over the years because their oldest daughter Karen (Becky) Orr (husband Mark Orr) and 2 granddaughters lived there, they relocated to enjoy the beautiful atmosphere as well as being closer to a growing family.
Bob enjoyed sports, loved to play golf and was a big fan of the Steelers and Pirates. He was very proud of his three children, David Jeffrey Wolff (Doreen Lewandowski), Karen Rebecca Orr (Mark), Wendy Lynn McKisic (A.D.).
Bob was close to his only brother, David A. Wolff, and his wife, Jane, who live in West Chester, PA. Surviving also are 7 grandchildren: David M. Wolff (Mary), Jonathan Wolff (Emily), Benjamin Wolff, Susan Bear (David), Joy Snyder (Jared), Alec McKisic, and Catherine McKisic. He doted on his grandchildren and was overjoyed when 7 great-grandchildren came along. Several nieces and nephews live in southeastern PA and Pittsburgh.
Bob had a long career with AT&T, starting in the mail room for Bell Telephone in 1956. He was a cable splicer and installer before moving over to Long Lines telegraph service testboard in downtown Pittsburgh. His promotions took him to the sales department and he was an account executive for AT&T for many years when he retired in 1995 with 39 years of service. He hired on with a start-up fiber-optic communications company that AT&T eventually bought out, bridging his time. In 1999, he retired for the second time from AT&T.
Bob’s life will be remembered at a service in Lancaster but he will be buried in Pittsburgh.
