Richard Byrd Sweitzer

Richard Byrd Sweitzer, 76, of Shillington passed away on Aug 30th surrounded by his loved ones. Richard worked at Wyomissing Paper and Security Guards Inc. He was active in his community serving as both Jury Commissioner & a member of the Prison Board. He was an avid fan of professional wrestling and the Baltimore Orioles. Richard was the youngest of 6 children born, in reading, to the late Mervin Sweitzer Sr and Betty Sweitzer (nee Hilbish). He was preceded in death by his daughter Charlene. He’s survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda Sweitzer (nee Goodwin), his son Timothy and daughter-in-law Tarah Sweitzer (nee Tagnon), as well as 5 grandchildren Joshua and Jason Simpson and Jared, Jacob, and Grace Eckart and niece Erica Sweitzer. Interment will be private at Pleasant View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Brain Foundation.
