Our beloved father and grandfather, Richard Lyndel Hartshorne, passed
away on the evening of his 95 th birthday, November 21, 2023, after a
long and beautiful life. We are confident he was received with
welcoming arms by so many loved ones who have passed on before
him–especially his wife, Lois, and his daughter, Barbara.
He was born on November 21, 1928, the youngest of five brothers, in
Malvern, PA. He married his high school sweetheart, Lois Dawson, on
May 22, 1948, and they celebrated over 64 years of marriage together
before her passing in 2013. They had two children, Steven and Barbara,
who were always their top priority. Lyndel, or “Lyn” as he was known
to his friends, was a steadfast and gentle presence to all who knew him.
He worked as an engineer in the 1960s at Kawecki in Boyertown, PA,
and worked for over 30 years at Johnson Matthey, West Whiteland, as
an engineer and site manager. His family was of the utmost
importance to him, and he was an active participant in the lives of his
children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Referred to as Pop-
Pop by all of his grandkids (and all of their friends), he was present for
every major event that came up in their lives and offered his full
support and love to them always.
He is survived by his son, Steven Hartshorne, his wife Holly, and their
children Jennifer Lawson and Casey Cook and by his son-in-law, Louis B.
Colameco III, of Salem, NJ, and his children Jessica Colameco Rathbone,
Thomas Colameco, and Matthew Colameco. He leaves behind six great
granddaughters who all loved him very dearly.
A celebration of life will be held following the holiday season at a date
to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Barbara
