Raymond B. McKeeby, 79 of Stevens, PA passed away on December 11, 2023 after a long illness.
Raymond was born in Binghamton, NY on December 19, 1943 to Dr. Raymond S. and Emily McKeeby. He graduated from Binghamton Central High School and attended Long Island University and Harpur College.
He married Joan Marie Hertzog of Vestal, NY on August 19 of 1966 and transitioned from being an antiques dealer to employment with the Rite Aid Corporation, where he rose to the position of Associate Vice President over a career that lasted until 2005. Over the years, their growing family lived in Binghamton, Elmira and Vestal, NY, briefly in Westerville, OH, and moved to southeastern PA in 1984, living in Lebanon and Marietta.
He spent his post-retirement years working in real estate and returned to dealing in antiques and volunteering for The Marietta Restoration Associates. Ray was an avid collector of Americana, including furniture, ceramics, art, militaria, and Kentucky rifles. He was never far from his banjo, and loved bluegrass and traditional music. He took up fly fishing later in life, and enjoyed the time he spent on the streams in the Lancaster area. As a leading volunteer for Marietta Restoration Associates, he spent many hours organizing and operating their museum just down the block from his historic residence.
Raymond is predeceased by his wife Joan, as well as his parents Raymond and Emily McKeeby and sisters Gail Moberg and Joan White.
He is survived by his children Matthew (Joann) McKeeby, David (Rose) McKeeby, Elizabeth (John) Nicholson, and Raymond S. (Emily) McKeeby II, and by grandchildren Graham and Hallie Nicholson and Raymond Arthur McKeeby.
Ray’s ashes will be scattered in a private family ceremony. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research at www.michaeljfox.org .
