Ray H. Geesaman

March 27, 1936 — November 24, 2024

Ray H. Geesaman, born on March 27, 1936, in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2024, in New Providence, Pennsylvania, surrounded by his loved ones. He was 88 years old.

Ray is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Gloria A. Spangler Geesaman, his high school sweetheart. Together, they raised six children: Rodney, Craig, Brian, Melanie Meckes, Bonnie Meehan, and Kim Beal. He is predeceased by two sons, Ray Geesaman, Jr. at birth and Craig Geesaman. Ray was a cherished grandfather to 20 grandchildren, with one preceding him in death, and a great-grandfather to 46 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Mildred Shepherd and Anna Williams, and is predeceased by his brothers, Robert and Rufus Geesaman, as well as his parents, Nathan and Mary Landis Geesaman.

Ray's early years were spent working on his family farm, a passion he carried into his early married life. He later delivered milk for Pensupreme Dairy in Avondale, Pennsylvania, for seven years before embarking on a 30-year career as a salesman for Herr’s Foods, Inc. in Nottingham, Pennsylvania. Ray was dedicated to his faith, serving as a chaplain for Marketplace Ministries for 26 years, and was active in his church as a music director, elder, deacon, Sunday school teacher, and home group leader. An ordained pastor, he found joy in sharing the gospel of Christ.

A lover of antique cars and a self-taught mechanic, Ray also enjoyed playing guitar, singing in choirs and quartets, playing church baseball, and bowling on a league. His humor and love for making people laugh will be fondly remembered.

A service to celebrate Ray's life will be held on December 14, 2024, at Encounter Church, 300 Hideaway Dr., Quarryville, PA 17566, officiated by Pastor Stuart Osborne and Pastor Brian Geesaman. Visitation begins at 10 AM, followed by the service at 11 AM, with lunch to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Eagle Ranch Ministries, 1579 Pleasant Valley Rd., Mount Pleasant, PA 15666. Ray will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
