Michael L. Carpenter

Mike was born in Fond du Lac Wisconsin to Willard and Daisy Carpenter. He spent his childhood years in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and Illinois. Mike graduated from Galesburg (IL) High School and Carleton College in MN.

Mike met the love of his life, Margie, at the Traveler’s Insurance Company in Hartford, CT. They had 63 wonderful years together, living in Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, New York, Connecticut, Virginia and Pennsylvania.

After Mike’s retirement from the Travelers, they became owners of a bed and breakfast in Onancock, VA. They spent the past 10+ years enjoying life at Willow Valley Retirement Communities near Lancaster, PA.

Mike is survived by Margie and their two daughters, Patty (Rob) Chamberlain and Sharon (Jim) Masucci. He had five grandchildren whom he adored, Katie (Chris) Marshall, Matt (Maddy) Masucci, Caroline Chamberlain, Maggie Chamberlain and Grant Chamberlain. He was the very proud great grandfather of JP Marshall and Cecilia Masucci.

Mike is remembered for his upbeat and charming personality, his terrible dad jokes, his love of popcorn, bourbon, flank steak and pecan pie (actually, any sweet!) and his ability to make everyone smile and have a good day. He was an avid skier and served on the National Ski Patrol for a number of years. He was a passionate woodworker, had a terrific bass voice and sang in a number of choirs, enjoyed his camera, computer, and every other electronic gadget (Especially his 4 Alexas!). Mike was an ordained elder in the Presbyterian Church. Nothing pleased him more than spending time with his grandchildren.

A private family service will be held at a later date. Everyone at Willow Valley has always taken stellar care of our parents, and dad loved every person who works there. In his memory, we  would appreciate donations to the Lakes Employee Fellowship Fund, Attn: Finance, 300 Willow Valley Lakes Dr., Willow Street, PA 17584
