Michael Eugene Curry died peacefully at Hospice and Community Care Inpatient center on January 30 after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.

He was born in Lancaster to George F. Curry, Jr and Shirley L. Curry (Jacobs).

In addition to his mother, Michael is survived by his wife, Shari Curry (DeVerter); three sons and a daughter, Matthew Curry, Scott Curry, Ryan Curry and Julia Curry; two sisters, Denise Henkel and Sherry Bunting.

Michael was a graduate of Conestoga Valley High School (1980); Millersville University (1984, B.S. Computer Science; 1991, Secondary Mathematics Teaching Certification; and 1998, M.Ed.).

Michael was a Computer Systems Analyst for Pennsylvania Blue Shield for five years and then he taught math at Spring Grove Area School District and the School District of Lancaster for a total of 16 years. During this time, he also coached football, basketball and baseball.

The most rewarding job Michael had has been over the past 10 years helping autistic individuals make significant connections to a surrounding world that is not always open to difference. He worked at New Story, Chester County Intermediated unit and was a Group Leader at Aaron’s Acres’ camp this past summer.

A private ceremony for the family and close friends will be set at a later time.
