She was born on December 6, 1957, in Wilmington, Delaware to William Edward DeLoach and Annie Murl DeLoach. Linda graduated from Newark High School, and she received her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from the University of Delaware. Growing up in Newark, Delaware, Linda briefly lived in Maryland and Oregon before settling in Akron, Pennsylvania.
She met Doug in 1975 while both were attending the University of Delaware, and they were married on October 22, 1986. Linda is survived by her husband Doug, their son Ky and grandson Rowan, their son Graham, her sisters Margaret and Betty, and her brothers Bill and Michael.
Linda loved raising her sons Ky and Graham, and was dedicated to home schooling them. She was very proud that both her sons achieved advanced degrees, with Ky receiving a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and Graham receiving a Doctorate in Physics from the University of California, Davis.
More recently, Linda loved becoming a grandmother and adored her grandson, Rowan. She traveled to California regularly to spend time with her sons, daughter-in-law Caroline, and Rowan. Linda loved these visits and especially cherished spending time with her grandson.
Linda enjoyed pets, especially cats, and worked briefly as a veterinary technician. She volunteered at a bird rescue center and took pride in rehabilitating injured birds. Linda and Doug spent time hiking and backpacking together as they traveled throughout many states and Canada. Their adventures included one entire summer backpacking throughout the Northwestern United States. Linda continued to enjoy the outdoors as she went camping and hiking with her husband and children during annual family vacations in Maine.
The family is planning for a celebration of Linda’s life to take place at a later time.
