Kelly Dyane Mance, 50, of Ephata, PA passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2024. She is loved and missed dearly by her husband, Harry Tyrone Washington Jr., children, Kathryn and Kimo Washington, parents, William and Diane Mance of Asheville NC. sisters, Stacy Mance White (Richard) of Elon, NC, Candy Mance of Asheville, NC, and Shannon Credle-Clark of Chelsea, MA, her nieces and nephews, extended family, friends, former students, and colleagues.
To know Kelly was to love her. There is too much to say about Kelly to fit in an obituary. Kelly brought a sense of adventure to everything she did. As a child she spent her days jumping out of second story windows (because she could), plugging electrical cords up her nose and pretending to be electrocuted, testing matches in the laundry room and outside in dry grass (to see what would happen), terrorizing her sisters with fake insects, and refusing to do housework and chores during the summer much to the dismay of her siblings who knew everyone would be in trouble. It was often wondered aloud if she would make it to adulthood, but she did.
Kelly loved to laugh, often at her family's expense (we all remember the Florida vacation with the panic attack in the simulator ride at the mall). No matter how many times she heard or told a story, she would still get tears in her eyes laughing. She loved ice cream and tricked her husband and kids into trying homemade jalapeno ice cream by claiming it was mint flavored. During the holidays, she made a mean Chex mix and poop spray that she gave her family for Christmas. She consistently drove like she was in a NASCAR race and left you no choice but to hang on and hope for the best. She was a great teacher and imparted her knowledge on hundreds of kids. Kelly was stubborn and insisted on doing things her way, even to the end.
There will be no services per Kelly's instruction.
