John Snyder Jr., of Lancaster City, passed away on July 28th, 2014 from unknown and unexpected causes. He was 19 years old.
He was born at the Hershey Medical Center in November 1994 to John G. Snyder Sr. and Celeste McGinnis Snyder, sharing his birthday with his maternal Great Grandfather.. At the time of his death he was single and pursuing the opportunity to receive a degree in welding. He had previously opted to obtain his GED prior to his graduation date in order to start his young adult life. He had worked a variety of jobs while sorting out plans for the future.
John lived in Englewood Florida from 1998 until 2009 where he attended school, spending every free moment fishing, skateboarding, bike riding, playing with friends and exploring the woods and beach with his many friends. His days started very early and ended them when there was no longer sunlight to see.
In Florida, John attended Suncoast Worship “Center for many years. When moving back to Pennsylvania, he attended the Lord’s House of Prayer in Lancaster and later, Grace Baptist Church of Marietta where he greatly enjoyed services. He lived a life of great faith, and possessed a gift of prayer as a child that would leave one speechless.
One of John’s strongest assets was his sense of humor that could brighten the darkest mood or moment, regardless if humor was appropriate or not. He had a great love of children and had plans in his future to raise many of his own . He was looking forward to becoming the new “Uncle Johnny” in the family, bringing great laughter to his current and future nieces and nephews.
John is survived by four siblings, Elizabeth Leong of Tornoto Canada, Gabrielle McGinnis of Marietta, Aubrey Lynn Snyder and Renee Snyder of Anchorage Alaska, his parents, his Grandmother, Ginny Neumar, Grandfather Larry Snyder Sr. His aunts Leanne Armold and Sandi McFalls, His Uncles Larry and Dale Snyder, one nephew, Decklan Samuel Ross and two nieces Alice Jo Grace Snyder and Addilyn Grace Snyder. He is preceded in death by numerous great grandparents, his paternal grandmother, Terri Snyder, his maternal Grandfather Bernard J. McGinnis and Step-Grandmother Patricia Lily Stringer McGinnis, as well as an uncle Christopher McGinnis, and his cousin, Samantha Nicole Heller.
Services will be held on Friday, August 8th at Living Legacy Church, 228 McCorkle Road, Hershey PA, 17033 at 6:30 PM.
The family is setting aside a week of sobriety and clean time starting August 10, 2014 to August 16, 2014 as a way to honor John’s new life living clean and sober every day. John would be deeply honored by your participation and would be the first one to tell you if you struggle with this, contact his family so they can help you walk the walk during this week.
The family requests instead of flowers or donations you take up John’s way of touching the world by loving the unlovable, remembering the forgotten, touching the untouchable and giving to others without regard to yourself. The family also wishes to express deep gratitude to everyone who has extended support, prayers, help and so much more during this time of incredible loss.
