Jane Elizabeth (King) Hoffman 101 of Elizabethtown, PA, passed away on Thursday the 20th of February, 2025 at the Masonic Village. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward in 1966. Her five siblings, Dorothy Y. (King) Halk, Charles G. King, Robert W. King, Wilbert E. King and Margaret Ann King, all preceded her in death.
She was born at home on August 11, 1923, in Middletown, PA to Charles Gilbert King and Lillian Mae (Dohner) King.
Jane attended Middletown Area Schools.
She joined Christ Church, UCC in Elizabethtown, PA after moving to town with her husband, Edward. She was a faithful singer in the Chancel Choir for many years.
Jane was a happy homemaker while raising her daughters. She usually had a twinkle in her eye as she had a good sense of humor. She loved to bake, read, sew, play board games and card games such as bridge and pinochle. She also enjoyed working to solve crossword puzzles and word searches. She was an avid bowler. She worked hard inside and outside the home. She held various jobs outside the home when needed. She worked in the meat department of Risser’s IGA and a flower shop creating flower arrangements. She cleaned the Elizabethtown Borough offices and worked in the bindery department at Stiegel Printing in Manheim.
She is survived by her daughters, Jane (Hoffman) Kaelberer(widow of Richard), Jill (Hoffman) Funk (married to Tim), a grandson, Eric Kaelberer (partner of Heather Harris), and a granddaughter, Nicole (Funk) Guinivan (married to Robert). Her seven great-grandchildren lit up her life -Eric’s four and Nicole’s three.
The family wishes to thank the Masonic Village Staff for the loving care and support they provided to Jane.
A graveside service in the Memorial Garden at Christ Church, UCC 247 South Market Street Elizabethtown, PA is planned for May 3, 2025, at 1:00pm. The ashes of Jane and Edward will be entered in the Garden at that time. Refreshments will be served under the portico after the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jane’s memory to the Elevator Fund at Christ Church, UCC, 247 South Market Street, Elizabethtown, PA 17022 (please write ‘Elevator Fund’ on the memo line of your check) and/or the Masonic Village Employee Appreciation Fund, One Masonic Drive, Masonic Village, Elizabethtown, PA 17022.
