Helen M. Hoban, 91, of Lancaster passed away on September 10. She was preceded in death by her husband William Hoban in 1978. Born in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late George Forshaw and Margaret (Russell) Forshaw Gardner.
She was a graduate of the Philadelphia General Hospital’s School of Nursing and was a registered nurse for more than 40 years. She enjoyed being an active member serving on numerous committees, in the capacity of acting chairperson and club president for several of the fundraising events and club activities of the Millersville Chapter of the Lioness International Club for more than 20 years. She was very active and especially enjoyed travel, ceramics, cross stitch, crochet, and playing cards. Those close to her enjoyed her acerbic wit and excellent baked goods.
She is survived by her daughter Lynnmarie Blackman (David) and her grandchildren Katherine and David. She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Hoban, and two brothers: Martin Forshaw and Harry Forshaw. She was beloved by all who met her. Helen requested a private funeral with her family and friends that will be held at the family’s discretion. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her over the last months of her life.
