George Engle of Lancaster PA passed away peacefully on February 3, 2024. He was 95 years old. George was born to George and Ethel Engle of Newark NJ in 1928. He served in the United States Navy during World War Two, on board the destroyer tender USS Dixie. Thereafter, he attended Newark College of Engineering in NJ, and pursued a successful career in construction. George collaborated on many notable projects, including the Starrett City residential development in Brooklyn NY, the White Plains NY Public Library, and a satellite healthcare complex for Hackensack University Medical Center in Bergen County NJ.
Throughout life George enjoyed skiing, growing tomatoes, woodworking, and his beloved German Shepherd Dogs
After retiring to the Lancaster area, he became an avid bowler with the senior league at Rocky Springs Bowling Alley, often being recognized for his high score achievements. George was also a well known regular at the Bridgeport Family Restaurant, where he made many friends, and was always ready to share a joke or some lively conversation about current events. George is survived by his former wife and
longtime friend, three daughters, one son, a grandson and a granddaughter.
