Gary K. Brooks, 82, of Mountville, passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Hospice. He was the beloved husband of Cheryl L. (Aument) Brooks with whom he shared 41 years of marriage. Born in Lancaster, PA, he was the son of the late Robert and Martha (Bobbi) Brooks. Gary was a graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School, class of 1959. Following graduation Gary joined his father as a painter for Robert K. Brooks and Son Painting. Gary was a well-known and highly accomplished bowler and the owner of Gary’s Pro Shop for more than 48 years. One of his most treasured accomplishments was representing the United States in the Tournament of Americas in Miami FL in 1975 and 1976. He set many records while bowling in those tournaments and was awarded the coveted Friendship award which was decided on by his fellow competitors from the various countries. Gary also enjoyed watching and following the Philadelphia sports teams, especially the Phillies and Eagles.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three sons, Brian K (Deb) Brooks of Strasburg, Dean M. Brooks of Mountville, and Joshua R. Brooks of Avondale, 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, a brother Glenn Brooks, nephew Jon Brooks, and niece Jodi Brooks. He was preceded in death by a nephew Glenn Kerry Brooks.

A memorial service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Grace Community Church of Willow Street, 212 Peach Bottom Rd, Willow Street, PA 17584. Family and friends will be received from 10 AM until the time of the service at 11 AM.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or Hospice & Community Care.
