Elmer C. Fry, Sr., 62, of New Providence Township died Thursday evening in the Lancaster General Hospital after a brief but serious illness. He was the devoted and loving husband of Karen E. Fry of 45 years.
Elmer was born in Coatesville, PA to Francis and Grace Fry, Sr, and attended school at Downingtown. He was a member of High View Church of God in Ronks. Elmer enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, working, the Theological study of the Bible, cooking, canning, raising turkeys for Thanksgiving, as well as hunting and shooting. He was employed at Pine View Enterprises and Terra-Gro for 16 years. He also drove tractor trailer for Blue Diamond and Yellow Freight as well as for himself as an owner-operator.
In addition to his wife Karen, he is survived by his three sons, and two daughters Vickey Hamby-Fry of Willow Street, engaged to Anthony Todd, Elaine Kirk of Nottingham, wife of Jeffrey, Elmer Jr, of Quarryville, husband to Kimberly, Matthew from Quarryville, and Mark of Buna, Texas, husband to Heather. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Siblings include Francis H. Fry Jr, Deceased, formerly of Downingtown, William B. Fry of Lancaster California, Judith A. Eckbold, and Sharon L. Kephart of West Chester, Grace A. Berrier and Terry L. Rider of Downingtown, and Gail M. Wiker, Deceased, of Powell, Tennesee.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Service at High View Church of God, 2470 Leaman Rd, Ronks, Pa., on Saturday, January 31’st at 1:00 o’clock. Pastor Thomas Lefever and Pastor Thomas Myers officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions can be made in Elmer’s memory to High View Church of God for their outreach ministry.
