Debra Smith

Debra Pacana Smith, a loving mother, grandmother, and talented artist, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2024, at the age of 57. She was born on October 13, 1967, to Richard and Marguerite Pacana. Debra is survived by her closest companion, Heath Brewer; her children, Benjamin and Alexandria Smith; her mother, Marguerite Pacana; her sister, Colleen Messner; her brother, Lance Pacana; and her beloved grandchildren, Eliana and Theodor Freeland Smith. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Pacana, her brother, Richard Pacana Jr., and her cherished dog, Barnabus.

A gifted horticulturalist by profession, Debra had a deep passion for nature and spent much of her life cultivating beauty in the world. Outside of her work, Debra was an avid painter and enjoyed restoring antiques, turning them into works of art. She was well-known for her love of animals, and in particular her dogs. Debra’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. She had a unique ability to create beauty, whether through her artwork, her compassionate nature, or her steadfast love for her family. She will be deeply missed and never forgotten. Her smile and laugh will forever live on our hearts.
