David R. Dilts

d. April 25, 2020

David Dilts, born to Robert and Virginia Rae (Lewis) Dilts in Indianapolis, IN on June 21st, 1949, died on April 25 th , 2020 after a valiant fight with Covid-19/Parkinson’s Disease at Hamilton Arms in Lancaster, PA. He lived an adventurous life and had a larger than life spirit. He was well-known for his wild stories, tall tales and bad jokes.

Dave had more than nine lives and lived them each to their fullest. He survived trips hitchhiking across the United States, trekking in Kashmir and a tour in the Vietnam War, where he served at Ubon Air Force Base in Thailand. Upon being honorably discharged, he completed degrees in Chemistry and Biology from Indiana University. He then embarked on roles in environmental engineering, and adventures in entrepreneurship. The family franchise, Heaven’s Best of Lancaster, is still owned and operated by his son.

Dave, however, always stated his greatest accomplishment was his family. He was married to JoAnn (Kern) for 38 years, together raising 3 children. They moved from Indianapolis, IN to Landisville, PA in 1984 due to a job transfer. There Dave was active in his church family and over the years completed several mission trips. He also gave back by raising money and walking several marathons with Team in Training as a leukemia survivor.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Robert and Bruce. He is survived by his wife and their children; Stefanie and Julie Bernosky (Seattle, WA), Katie and Brandon (Budde) (Boise, ID), and Dan (Lancaster). He was a grandparent-to-be to beloved Mylo, who will undoubtedly be as strong, restless and adventurous as his family. A celebration in remembrance of Dave will be scheduled when safe. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to: Water Street Mission, or The Michael J Fox Foundation.
