My time on Earth has come and gone, but I have lived a wonderful life with few, if any, regrets.
My high school and college summers were spent as a counselor at Camp Swatara. There I met the love of my life, Cindi, and developed friendships that have lasted my lifetime. It also prepared me for my career.
For 33 years I taught health and PE in the Central Dauphin School District. During that time, I spent 26 years coaching soccer – both at CD East and CD High Schools. Between boys and girls’ soccer, and junior high girls track and basketball, I ended up coaching for 62 seasons. It was lots of fun!
Cindi and I always shared a love of travel. When we were young, we took our tent and traveled all over the US and most of Europe. Later, we ventured out into the wider world, visiting all 7 continents and about 100 countries…without one cruise! Some of my favorite places were: Antarctica, the ancient Silk Road, Torres del Paine, Bhutan, the Himalayas, and our own National Parks. My favorite cities included: Istanbul, Varanasi, Hanoi, and Rome. Through our travels, we learned about the world we live in and visited many amazing sights, both natural and man-made.
I also enjoyed skiing, going to the gym, and watching the Phillies and the Eagles. In my retirement, I loved cooking, including the many cuisines from the places we visited.
Since cancer has gotten the best of me, and I’m now on my last great adventure, I only wish that I would have had a few more years to spend with my wife. Hopefully, the many great memories we’ve made together will help sustain her for the remainder of her life.
