Betty Ann Devers, 83, of Lancaster and York, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2024, surrounded by her family.
Betty was born on July 26, 1940, to Vera and Herbert Schmidt in St. Louis, Missouri where she graduated from Lutheran High. She and her family moved to various places around the country, spending time in Illinois, Kansas, and Virginia, before settling in York, Pennsylvania, where she lived for nearly 30 years before retiring to Lancaster. While in York she spent many years as Purchasing Agent for Gamlet, Inc. At every stop, Betty made wonderful friends, whether through bridge clubs or on the golf course. Her final years in Lancaster were perhaps her fondest. There she met some of her dearest friends and her days were filled with lunch dates, movies and plays, working in her garden, and cheering on her grandchildren in all their various activities.
Betty was fiercely independent, but loved nothing more than spending time with her family and close friends. She loved to travel, but equally enjoyed sitting outside at home in the sun with a good book. She had a truly wonderful sense of humor that never left her, even in her final days.
Betty is survived by her children Deb Lovett, wife of Mark of Lancaster, Patrick, husband of Lori Barnett of Allentown, and Scott, husband of Mandi of York; her grandchildren Forrest, Caroline, Devon, Cameron, Brooke, Jake, and Max, and her many wonderful friends and extended family members. She will be missed dearly, but her family and friends find comfort knowing that she is once again sitting in the sun.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life which will be held on May 2, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Conestoga Memorial Gardens. Cremation Services of Lancaster 717cremate.com
