Barry Mason

June 22, 1941 — January 30, 2025

Barry Lee Mason of Oxford, PA, passed away on January 30, 2025, at Lancaster General Hospital. Born on June 22, 1941, to George W. Mason and Marion Rannels Mason of Oxford, Barry lived his life with service to his community and country, and love and passion for his family and hometown.

Barry is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Wedel Mason; his daughter, Andrea Mason Michener (Joe); and his cherished grandchildren, Liam and Savannah. He is also survived by his two sisters, Cynthia Herr (Dwight) and Nina Mason Dintaman (Tom). Barry was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Ruthann Lawrence Mason, Andrea's birth mother.

Barry graduated from Oxford Area High School in 1959 and attended Goldey-Beacom College in Wilmington, Delaware. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1964 to 1967, stationed in Thailand and at Dover Air Force Base, Delaware, and was honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant.

Barry's career spanned various roles, including working at Luken's Steel in Coatesville, PA, Downingtown National Bank, Parkway Cleaners, and greeting shoppers at Walmart in his retirement. Barry had a deep love for cars, attending antique auctions, and collecting and selling vintage toys and glassware. He served as a member of the Union Fire Company of Oxford in his younger years. He also enjoyed meeting his Oxford classmates regularly for lunch and enjoyed his travels with Ruth to the river in nearby Maryland.

A celebration of Barry's life will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, with visitation at 10 am and services at 11:00 AM at the Oxford United Methodist Church, 18 Addison Street, Oxford, PA. where Barry has been a member since childhood.
