Barry A. Bosies

d. September 12, 2020

Barry Arthur Bosies, of York, passed away unexpectedly at York Hospital on Saturday, September 12 th , after a brief illness.  He was the husband of Regina (Appleby) Bosies, to whom he was married for 46 years.

Born March 6, 1946 in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Harry O. and Alice (Jessel) Bosies.

Barry began his life-long interest in all things mechanical and technical when he earned an acceptance to Baltimore’s Polytechnic Institute, continuing that education at The University of Maryland, where he earned his BS in Engineering, followed by a Masters in Administration and Engineering Management at George Washington University.  He served in The Army Reserves while a student, during the Vietnam War Era.

His professional career with various firms culminated with his eventual purchase of the former Toronita Corporation of York in 1994, which he transformed into Precision Machinery Systems, Inc. of York, manufactures of industrial and commercial waste reduction and compacting machines and was co-owner of B&W Metals, an associated metal fabricating firm.  The creation of and the successful current history of Precision Machinery Systems was a source of personal and family pride.

Barry was the most kind and giving of men, truly a “gentle giant” of a man.  A caring and devoted husband to his beloved Gina and a nurturing and supportive guide and model to his sons.  He was everyone’s friend, always ready to lend a hand, and hand-up or his assistance to all in need.  Barry truly “never said no”.

In addition to enjoying the constant companionship of his wife, both here and at their home in Florida, they travelled extensively.  Barry had a life-long love affair with the game of golf, which he began at his father’s side in his early teen years.  A good cigar, a good book, his countless friends, his Yorkshire Terrier Teddy and playing poker, pleased him so.  He was an avid motorcycle rider.

Barry is survived by his wife, Gina and sons Matthew and Michael and his future son-in-law, Ric Rackett, all of York.  A sister, Bonnie (Bosies) Berman of The Villages in Florida; his sister-in-law Denise (Pearce) Dooley and spouse (Shawn); nephew Jacob Hollandsworth and nieces Kristen Dooley and Lisa and Beth Woods also survive him.

Following cremation, private memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family.  Memorial contributions may be made in Barry’s memory to the Evans Scholarship Foundation for golf caddies of academic achievement and financial need at Evans Scholarship Foundation, One Briar Road, Golf, Illinois 60029-0301 or by online at www.wgaesf.org .
