Andrew “Andy” Michael Grobengieser, 57, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2023, after a lengthy battle with Corticobasal Degeneration.
Andy was born June 2, 1966, in Lancaster, PA, and remained local. He was a 1984 graduate of Manheim Township High School, and went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) in 1988. He utilized his knowledge and tech-savvy skills in his career in Marketing.
Andy remained as active as possible until he could no longer. He grew up playing many sports, his favorites being ice hockey and golf. Through these sports, Andy met some of his lifelong best friends. Among his favorite golfing memories was the annual “Quad G” golf trip to Ocean City, Maryland. He was additionally an avid runner, finishing many a race, and completed the Pittsburgh Marathon in 2009.
Andy remained extremely active in his daughters’ lives. He was their biggest cheerleader and the most wonderful father. He supported them in anything and everything they decided to do. He was a beloved coach to many of their sports teams; including Cocalico youth soccer, lacrosse, and basketball teams. He will always be remembered for creating beautiful highlight videos at the end of every season .
Andy was the epitome of selflessness. He never failed to lend a helping hand or shoulder to cry on whenever needed. His humor and wit were unforgettable. He could make just about anyone laugh. He loved spending time with his family and friends, attending/coaching his daughters’ sporting events, playing golf with his beloved Quad-G members, distance running, and relaxing at the beach. He was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan.
Andy, the most loving and devoted father, brother, son, and friend, is survived by his daughters; Katherine O. and Alison E. Grobengieser; former spouse Veronica Patrick; siblings Robert and Thomas Grobengieser; father, Robert D. Grobengieser and Judy Grobengieser, mother, Janice M. Grobengieser and Cindy Cover; 3 nieces and 2 nephews; and many caring friends.
A Celebration of Life for friends and family will be held at a later date, with details to come. In
lieu of flowers, his daughters ask those who wish to consider contributing to the PSP CBD
