Naomi Mildred Henkel (1918-2016) of Lancaster died on July 10th at the age of 98. She was born in Hegins, PA on January 9, 1918 to Marshall and Bertha Gemberling, and graduated from Mt. Joy High School in 1936. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Vernon Henkel, sister, Mary Greenawalt, brother, Marshall Gemberling, and sister, Betty Blanton.
She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Marshall from Bartlesville, OK and Nan Reisinger from Camp Hill, PA. As well as two sons, Thomas Reisinger and wife, Suzanne, from Blacksburg, VA, and Gregory Henkel and wife, Sheila, from Lancaster, PA. Twelve grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild also survive.
Naomi loved nature and being outdoors, she was a long-time member of the Lancaster Hiking Club, enjoyed traveling in the U.S. and abroad, and being part of large gatherings of family and friends. She was also an active member of Covenant United Methodist Church in Lancaster, PA.
The family wishes to especially thank the staff of Oak Leaf Manor (Landisville) who provided excellent care in her last years.
A memorial service to celebrate Naomi’s life will be held at 2:00 pm, July 14th, 2016 at Covenant United Methodist Church, 110 N Mulberry St, Lancaster, PA 17603.
