Jay L. Herr

Jay L. Herr, 68, of Mount Joy, PA, passed away on Sunday, January 28,2024. Jay was
born in Conestoga, PA to the late Clarence Herr Jr and late Irene (Booth) Herr.

Jay attended Penn Manor High School and was a self/family taught auto body
technician and a jack of many other trades. He began his journey as an auto body tech
with his family at Herr’s Auto Works in Conestoga before venturing out working at a few
auto repair shops over the years in Lancaster County PA, like Wolf Ford Motor
Company, Kelly Cadillac. Jay moved to Arizona for about a decade where he owned his
own auto body shop.

Jay enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter in his early years. In his later years,
fishing and traveling with his family brought him much joy. He also enjoyed playing the
guitar and spending time with his family. Jay was a very caring and compassionate
father, grandfather, and friend. He will be deeply missed!

He was part of a large family of 6 brothers and sisters, in which his sister Patrica
Simmons and brother Larry Herr preceded him in death. He is survived by brothers
Clarence and Robert Herr and two sisters, Marie Yake and Mary Strubel.
Also surviving are his daughters, Jessica Gast, Nancy Herr, and Ashley (Herr) Silva. In
addition, he also leaves behind his much-loved grandchildren Brittany, Julia, Elizabeth,
Arianna, Tony Jr., Ashton and Alyssa.

A life celebration will be held early Summer 2024 for Jay.
