George A. Partilla

George A. Partilla, 84, of Elizabethtown, PA, passed away on April 17, 2023 at Elizabethtown Masonic Village, with his family by his side.

Born on January 27, 1939 to Anna and George Partilla, he graduated from Wilkes-Barre Township High School, earned a bachelor’s degree from Penn State University and a master’s degree from University of Northern Colorado. He also served in the U.S. Army.

George and his family resided in Oneida, NY for 25 years, where he served as Community & Economic Development Director for the City of Oneida. He was credited with securing and administering federal grants used for public improvement projects, including expanding affordable housing, infrastructure, and economic development. He retired in 2000 and relocated to Elizabethtown, PA to live near family.

George is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marie; son George, York Haven, PA; daughter Susan and son-in-law Joseph Rilatt, York, PA; daughter Amy and son-in-law Christopher Cowan, Fletcher, NC; grandchildren Kylee Partilla, Sara and Adam Rilatt, and Annalee Partilla Cowan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Elizabeth Zelinka.

George was best known for his sense of humor, quiet compassion, thirst for knowledge, and love for family, especially his grandchildren. He leaves an enormous void in our lives and we will carry him in our hearts and minds eternally.

He wished for his family to gather privately to celebrate his life.

George would encourage all of us to follow our bliss and always take the road less traveled.
